1.Meaning of Apsara

Apsara, or Apsara, is a form of fairy tale dance that originated in the form of a musical dance, a royal dance that belonged to the king for a long time without any foreign influence. This dance is a valuable dance or a happy dance to play in the worship of the gods or to the spirits of the kings who have died. Because of the importance and value of this dance, combined with the luxury of this dance, they carved on the temple walls the image of this dance, which remains to this day. Since the Apsara image represents the king's musical dance, it is often understood that the Apsara image represents the Khmer art. Reflected through Apsara images, one can understand the mindset of Cambodians, we are a nation that is creative, gentle, polite and loves peace

2.Origin of Apsara dancing

This dance was officially created in 1961 by Queen Sisowath Kosomanak Neary Roth and Princess Norodom Bopha Devi as the first Apsara character.The dance was performed on the occasion of the Queen's visit to Sothearos Primary School, where the children's art ceremony was held. Seeing this, the queen was inspired to create this dance and nicknamed it "Apsara Dance", which means "Deva Dance", "Fairy Dance" or "Angel Dance" in Pali Sanskrit words.
