Beng Milia is a temple located approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from downtown Siem Reap.
You must travel by tuk-tuk or a separate vehicle.
Usually, it costs about $60 when using a regular car.
A common characteristic of Cambodian Hindu temples is that most of them are symmetrical, quadrangular, and usually have a pond or moat. A moat has many uses. It has a role of defense against external enemies and invasions, but in religious terms, it is used to keep water in the human world.
It refers to the border of God’s world.
The boundary connects the human world and the divine world through the snake (Naga).
So, if you go to every temple, including Angkori Wat, there is a multi-headed cobra snake (Naga) on the bridge or long road.
Bengmilia is a temple that combines a broken temple and nature.
It is said that when it was built, it was a temple in the shape of a pond.
Entrance to Bengmilia Temple
This is a photo of the entrance to Bengmilia Temple. There is also a naga (cobra snake). That snake telling us to get out is now taking us to the heavenly world.
It will play a guiding role. Of course, there was water next to it when it was built.
If you look at the stone statues at the historic site, they have been completely destroyed by war, which, in
Korean terms, is said to cut off energy.
The head of a snake statue was cut off, the tail of a lion statue was cut off, and the arms, legs, and neck of
Buddha or Hindu statues were cut off.
It was destroyed.
If you look to the side, you can see that the stones from the collapsed temple have been left unattended. Each
stone (sandstone) has a different shape.
They say it is very difficult to restore.
There are wooden stairs inside, and the entrance and exit directions are different. Shifeng tree and other trees
get tangled up in the temple
It has a strange beauty and feels like a temple in a forest of trees.
You won't be hot from the sunlight while enjoying the interior.
This is the Google Map location.
Usually, when I travel, I like to see Beng Milia Temple and Bandei Srei together, or do a kampong block with one of the
above temples.
I recommend it, but eating is the problem. Have the audacity to eat authentic, unmodified local food or try a local
restaurant.
If you find it well, you will be able to meet your schedule.
Let’s look at the map above.
To check whether same-day tours are available,
1. Bandei Srei, Bengmilia - Available
2. Bandei Srey, Kampong Block (Tonle Shop) - Available
3. Beng Milia, Kampong Block (Tonle Shop) - Available
4. Bandei Srei, Tsonknier (Tonle Sap) - Muri
5. Bengmilia, Tsonknier (Tonle Sap) - Mururi
6. Phnom Kulen and Bandei Srei or Bengmilia - Muri
Phnom Kulen, Bandei Srey, Beng Milia, and Kampong Block (Tonle Sap) are located in a similar direction.
It may seem possible to do it all at once, but in reality, it is either impossible or impossible.
The idea is to enjoy the trip, not to join the military.^^
